“So, has it hit you yet?”
There is this saying that we often hear, “So, has it ht you yet?” The best way I can describe this expression is when a big event or transition is about to occur, or has just occurred, it sometimes can feel shocking or overwhelming. An emotional hit takes place like the joy that might come over you when you receive a job promotion that you have been desiring or when a young couple experiences the emotional high of becoming parents for the first time. I believe because this trip was considered a big adventure to most, and because they did not know something like this was a childhood dream, they would ask if it hit me yet, that moment of emotional impact. Many were surprised when I told them no. Often they would try and convince me that this “moment” was coming. I remember after I landed in Chengdu, and had been there for a few days I thought to myself: “Maybe it doesn’t hit you when you know it’s supposed to happen...” Read and listen to the rest of this blog series by clicking below. |
